Friends of Sutukoba

Friends of Sutukoba is a friendship organization between the inhabitants of Risør in Norway and the Sutukoba village in Gambia. The organization is founded by Helga Arntzen in 1983 in Risor. Afterwards we as Friends of Sutukoba have expanded the area of work to cover the whole district that Sutukobas lies in.
We have carried out over 100 projects form the beginning till now. We work with different projects: agriculture, school, health, environment, business activities... ect.

Nowadays the two main projects of Friends of Sutukoba are Children School Foundation and Rice Projects. Both children and adults are engaged in these projects.

Friends of Sutukoba cooperates with the district committee in the Upper River District (WAD).This committee formulates suggestions to projects that facilitate the population’s daily life. The suggestions are to be send to the board in Risør where the possibilities and the economical support would be considered.

There are about 50 members including the Children School Foundation sponsors.
